Hot Hot
This project was another collaboration with Idiomactic Theatre Collective, and part of their series of new works based on the idiom "Beating around the Bush".

Hot Hot was a two-hander one act play anchored around the ritual of two girls getting ready to go out on the town. It tackles that everyday yet existential and sometimes devastating struggle to wear something that feels like "you", and how sometimes that makes you want to rip your skin off. The feeling of being constantly on display. Questioning how much of what you wear both in clothes and outward disposition are a performance. The special kind of way that you can be yourself around your best friend. The sacred bond between women that remains constantly important.

It's outrageous and ugly and beautiful, and it's a piece of absurdist theatre written and performed and produced by women! It explores the meaning of life through the lens of a woman's experience which is just as much of an exploration of the universal human experience as a story about men like...Waiting for Godot (I'm not kidding) (that dead guy needs to start letting women play Didi and Gogo it's getting ridiculous) (it's about being human and women are human) (if you know you know)

This role allowed me to dive into the unique comedic tone that is often found in absurdism, and showcase that me and the brilliant Bernadette Harding could carry that consistently with just one other person. It also allowed me to tap into my rage against the patriarchal machine, and the ways the beauty industry makes me lose my mind over my inability to escape the male gaze in my own mind. There were also moments of absolute anxiety followed by absolutely freeing apathy and warm emptiness. There were also beautiful moments of tender friendship. As an actor is was truly a juicy, yummy meal.
